He has not left our property since the last update either. He chills under a pine bush thing during the day. At night, he's on the porch or under the bush. He still
  • 02
I won't use the shelter. We tried putting one of the self warming mats in a cardboard box and he won't use that either. Even just a

plain cardboard box. Luckily it's been very warm here and mostly in the 60s and will continue to be warm for the next few weeks.
  • 04
He is very insistent on pets now. If you stop, he will head butt until you start again lol. He flops down
  • 05
right against my leg and asks for belly rubs. He is a BIG fan of butt scritches.

He has stopped running when we open the door and even rubs against our legs when we are

standing. He's still a bit skittish sometimes, but definitely a huge improvement.

After much discussion and thought, we will be bringing him inside after the holidays. Thanks
  • 11
to our amazing friend, we have an enclosure that we will set up in our basement to make absolutely sure that our cats have no contact

while we socialize him more and get him vet checked. We need to get bloodwork on him and stool
  • 14
checked. We cannot bring him in sooner as we have a lot of company coming and will be super busy. We may not be able
  • 15
to keep him depending on the bloodwork results and whether it stresses our cats out too much.
  • 16
Especially our FIP cat. At very least, we will socialize him enough that he can be adopted as an indoor cat.

I do have a question for people who have dealt with strays/ferals before. He is pretty dirty and feels grimy. I see him clean himself
  • 18
often, but he maybe just can't keep up with it. Obviously a bath isn't a good idea, but we do have
  • 19
unscented cat waterless shampoo. Will he be able to clean himself fully once he's no longer
  • 20
getting dirty constantly and lose the grime, or will we need to give a helping hand?
  • 21
I'm still in shock that he came around so suddenly!! I feel very blessed.

RecentSheepherd... Do. Not. Bath. Him. Not now. All bonus points will be lost in one shot.
  • 23
Bring him in first. See if that works at all. I would be very careful with bathing even if he has fleas. It could be a
  • 24
very traumatic experience for ALL of you. He looks like someone who knows how to survive. And he will make sure that he survives the bath ...
